The title of this movie suggests if each of us had only one thousand words, what would we choose?  One theme is when we listen and spend less time talking we learn a lot more—about others, about what is going on, and even about how others see us.  There is a scene where Jack (Eddie Murphy) learns how his mother thinks he is so great.  The tree symbolizes the true core of Jack, what he feels.  There are emotions we each need to express to release (anger) and we each need to show as well as tell those we love that we do love them.   To forgive and encourage those around us improves not only the lives of others but the joy of giving actually improves the inner quality of our lives.  How we treat others lays the bases of how others treat us.  This movie is correctly rated as PG-13, the language is present.
